According to the principle of "Serving students' development and laying a foundation for their success", bilingual primary school of Wuxi Foreign Language school held its first parent committee meeting on September 26.
First of all, Mr. Wu Chenchao, vice-principal of Wuxi Foreign Language School, welcomed the parents on behalf of the school and introduced the development and achievements of bilingual primary school.
After President Wu's speech, Ms. Fan Caimei, a member of the parent committee, also shared her educational ideas and family education practices in light of the children's learning and living situation, which were recognized by the members attending the meeting.
Next, PYP coordinator, teacher Chen Yixin, interacted with the members of the parent committee in an exploratory class.
Teacher Chen used the ice-breaking activity of "Human Scale" to let the parents group according to their own interests and hobbies. Through this small activity, the parents quickly got familiar with each other.
Teacher Chen asked parents to combine their own experience and understanding, group discussion, jointly design a perfect learner image.Parents discussed enthusiastically, share their own parenting experience, and design and write the hope for the child on the paper.
Under the guidance of Teacher Chen, the parents communicated with each other about the image of perfect learners.
Based on parents' good expectations for their children, teacher Chen listed learner profile , which parents found to be consistent with their expectations and even more widely considered. It is an important quality for personal lifelong development and social development. And parents can’t agree more.
Under the guidance of teacher Chen, the parents carefully observed the classroom where the children usually attended classes, and interacted with the teachers about what they saw, thought and questioned.
Different from the previous parent committee, bilingual primary school leads parents to understand the concept, learning content and way of bilingual primary school in class.It not only shows the daily teaching mode of students, but also vividly embodies the inquiry teaching under the IB framework.
Parents have expressed that in such an open learning atmosphere, learning knowledge is no longer a rule, but vivid in every aspect of their children's lives;children's thoughts are no longer confined to the book, but more thinking, and laid a more solid foundation for the future study and life .
After parents fully understood the teaching mode of bilingual primary school, principal Liu Liying read out the list of members of the new parent committee, and the members of the old family committee delivered the letter of appointment to the new members.
Finally, principal Liu thanked all the parents for coming and announced the official launch of the work of the parent committee, hoping to build a home-school learning community to provide rich learning opportunities for children, so that they can better tap their potential and become a person who is active in exploration, diligent in thinking, good at communicaing and brave in trying.
